The Village of Albany (population 900) is located on the banks of the Mississippi River and on one of the busiest highways in the State of Illinois.
Route 84 is also part of the Great River Road, established in 1938 as the national parkway of the Mississippi River. The Stephen B. Hanks Boat
Access Area brings boaters from all over the State. The Great River Bike Trail also goes through town, bringing bicyclers from miles around. The
nearby Albany Indian Mounds is a burial ground for the Hopewell Indians.
Main Street boasts several antiques shops, bars and restaurants,
and amenities to host those taking advantage of the recreational
opportunities on and along the river. Agri-Bunge Corp. which ships
grain by bargis located at the edge of town.
Albany is a laid back community where everyone knows everybody.
The crime rate is low and fellowship opportunities are high in our
places of worship; Albany River of Life, St. Patrick Catholic Church
and United Methodist Church.
